The People's Energy: Abundance, Sufficiency, and Sustainability

A discussion and constructive debate led by ITS grad student Bryan Jungers regarding the perception of energy scarcity throughout the ages. How has this perception helped shape human progress and modernity? How does this perception compare to known energy resources? What is a 'reasonable' and 'sufficient' level of energy consumption? How do empires, their institutions, and tools like economics, work in concert to perpetuate perceptions of energy scarcity and complexity? How does society benefit, in what ways is it harmed, and why does any of this matter?
