Herd Manager

Sweet  Grass Dairy is looking for an animal lover with farm/ dairy experienceto  manage our herd of lovable goats and dairy facility.

We are  looking for someone to manage animal health, follow a pasture rotation  schedule, and establish breeding and identification systems to better  meet our dairy needs.   This is a career position and  serious applicants only need apply.

We have about 200 goats with another 50 or so  babies.  We are at the point to where we need a person solely dedicated to animal health, pasture management, and identification/breeding systems. We would be open to an internship of at least 1 year or  anyone out of college that is interested in managing a goat dairy.   Animal or farm experience is a must but specific goat knowledge is not  necessary.

Starting  Wage: negotiable based on experience.
Schedule:  Flexible.  Person must be open to working with a changing
schedule based on needs of the business.

We are looking for someone who has significant teaching experience, horticulture and gardening experience, with a background in the natural sciences, education, or related fields. Administrative and grant writing and implementation experience are all pluses. BA/BS required.
 
The position is 1/2 time (20 hrs/wk), with benefits (medical, dental, etc), and the pay starts around $15 an hour. Schedule is somewhat flexible. R4 Recycling Program - Staff Assistant III (Title Code 4920)

Job Description: 

Work with a fun, well organized staff. Will function as a Waste Prevention and Recycling Assistant. Responsible for assisting the Program Manager in developing and implementing educational programs, collecting and analyzing data and materials from campus waste stream, and supporting general office functions, including telephone and computer work. Will drive University Vehicles. Duties include designing, preparing, and presenting educational displays; developing and executing programs to support academic projects and student activities; leading and planning assigned projects from theoretical to operational phases; coordinating with student groups, departments, and contractors on campus to promote waste reduction and recycling; writing articles for newsletter; developing and conducting educational and promotional projects for departments such as advertisements, tabling, indoor recycling, and waste stream data reports; giving presentations; operating audio-visual equipment; conducting research of campus system, analyzing subsequent results and proposing operational and educational changes; attending weekly staff meeting; responding to telephone and e-mail requests for information; inspecting recycling systems and educational outreach on campus; studying and analyzing campus wide waste stream and recommending ways to reduce waste; writing internal and external reports; coordinating and assisting with the interview process of students; other miscellaneous duties as assigned.

 Job Responsibilities:

Must possess a valid California Driver License; Must participate in the DMV Pull Notice System; Ability to lift containers up to 50lbs; Work independently; Ability to use excellent customer service skills; Ability to effectively interact and to coordinate in a professional manner with University employees and students;  Serve as the first point of contact when receiving service questions; Effectively organize and lead projects while thinking creatively and making independent decisions; Ability to write effectively; Must possess basic computer and electronic skills and proficiency in computer programs e.g. WORD, EXCEL, ACCESS.  Must possess oral communication skills, language and grammar skills, and general knowledge of environmental and conservation issues.
