Volunteer

CCE needs community members and student volunteers to help maintain our ASUCD Gardens and promote environmental sustainability in Davis.

We are currently recruiting volunteers in 3 teams including Garden Cleanup & Stewardship, Garden Accessibility & Art, Environmental Advocacy and Education. The form to apply is linked here: bit.ly/cce_application. The volunteer program may be extended into an internship as well!

 

Team Descriptions

Garden Cleanup and Stewardship

The stewardship program aims to promote the community gardens with sustainability and environmental awareness.  This position is meant to give volunteers and interns the opportunity to work directly on keeping Davis community areas clean and environmentally friendly.  Responsibilities may include:

  • Clearing and maintains plots for community members 
  • Maintaining community areas and orchards 
  • Properly disposing of with all kinds of waste littered in community areas  
  • Brainstorming and executing plans to promote sustainability and gardening side by side
     

Garden Accessibility and Art

The accessibility program will design the ASUCD Gardens using creative and clever ideas to make the space more accessible and unique. This position is meant to give volunteers and interns the opportunity to design an open space area to maximize foot traffic and make the space welcoming and more accessible. 

  • Transform the ASUCD Gardens into an accessible and aesthetic place
  • Creating accessible signage for pathways and entryways
  • Collect waste to repurpose and limit buying new materials
  • Design and create community areas in the ASUCD Gardens.

 

Advocacy and Education

The advocacy program will expand CCE using creative and clever ideas to make the space more accessible and unique. This position gives volunteers and interns the opportunity to promote environmental awareness, sustainability, and advocacy across campus and the broader Davis community.

  • Creating education campaigns on and off campus
  • Write articles and op-eds about relevant environmental topics
  • Planning demonstrations and advocacy activities for the environment
  • Meet and work with policymakers to further sustainability goals
  • Create in person and online educational materials 
  • Facilitate collaborations with other organizations with similar interests
